A Teacher's Vision: Running to Enhance Education in Charles County
I am choosing to run now because I believe my 20 years of experience as an educator uniquely positions me to contribute valuable insights to the Charles County Board of Education. While the current board has members with diverse backgrounds, including attorneys, healthcare professionals, IT program managers, small business owners, engineers, and individuals with experience in education policy, treasury, and human resources, my extensive career as a teacher provides a distinct perspective.
My commitment to education goes beyond policy; it's deeply rooted in the day-to-day interactions with students, teachers, parents, and the community. I understand the challenges faced by students in the classroom, the needs of teachers on the front lines, and the importance of fostering a collaborative relationship between schools and the broader community.
In contrast to members with varied professional backgrounds, my career has been dedicated solely to the field of education. This focus allows me to bring a nuanced understanding of the intricacies of the educational system, the specific needs of students, and the impact of policies on the ground.
